A Letter From Edith Beale

August 4th, 1979

GREY GARDENS

Dear Frank,

The reason I have not written is because I am working very hard to sell my mothers place! But only a very special kind of old house (Grey Gardens) was built in 1900. Would want to tackle the job in these days of -----. The land that grey gardens is on is very valuable! A very special investment in risky times though it is only about 200 yards from a private beach and is also corner property. And dont forget the ever present breeze from the ocean! It is almost two acres with a very famous walled garden (cement) that came from Rome.

What will I do after it is sold? Go to Florida on a vacation-then try to get a show business job. I love Florida and hope to stay there- I have never seen the west coast of Florida or California and even though mother told me to settle in Paris, those two places I have yet to see. You took very good pictures of me Frank -- two years ago the first summer my mother was gone. No other pictures taken of me measured up to yours!

Let me know how you are doing. I am sorry this letter is late.

Sincerely -- your friend,

Edith Beale
